Surrealistic Realism explained

When raindrops splatter on window sills in quiet country rains nobody asks why? When fireplaces warm a living room and tingles our legs to our toes, nobody acknowledges it, why? When on an airplane and the airplane drops in an air pocket quite rapidly in span of merely second, the tingling sensation of queasiness sets deep in the belly, but nobody talks about this experience of “air travel” why? What about holding somebody close to you and feeling the warmth of their embrace, nobody speaks of that moment however brief it may be, why?

Aren’t these the important details of life, a life worth remembering? When people make love to glistening moonlight glow, do they stop to see where the moon is placed in the night sky? What about when rolling in between the folds between the couch rubbing against the coarse fiber texture and sliding onto smooth cloth blanket cast conveniently aside to the corner of the couch? How many times do we remember in that moment of physical pleasure the reality of our other senses, the smell, the saliva that rolls off the tongue uncontrollably and out of the corner of your mouth? How about the soft caress of bare skin as it meets the frail lace of undergarments as we slowly and coyly try to mask our intentions?

Welcome to the world of surrealistic realism, a concept in which the subconscious and the conscious merge. Everything about what you have just read is a lie and an exaggeration. The beauty of the artistic process, the true artistic process whether it be music, art, dance, song, film whatever the medium; the glorious reality of truth is that we are the realities we create, and perhaps maybe these are the underlying realities that make us human.

For to understand these complexities our rationale mind cannot provide conclusive data, but for the emotional and sensational cortexes of our mind of which we rely on our five major senses the message is very clear. I believe we as human beings live in moments of time, not the entirety of the journey. To further Illustrate this point, think of the last major vacation that you may have enjoyed in the past year. What do you remember? Do you remember what the temperature of the room was at 4:36am? Of course not. Do you remember what thoughts were running through your head when you arrived at your destination? How about when you were relaxed in the company of a loved one, do you remember those thoughts?

The function of what we share in these space of moments that encapsulates vacations, sojourns and other experiences is what I like to call the reality of the divine. I, for one, peddle the concept of divine. That divinity you may forget when lost in the throes of passion, the boon of eroticism you may never admit to feeling in the company of distinguished guests. Those moments of remembrance to conceptualize your own fantasy and have a medium to share with others is what my art is about.

This is the reality I choose to live, in my artwork, and I invite you to look upon the art first with your eyes then with your subconscious. The first inclination is to deem the artwork as abstract, but I invite you in further, complexities of the soul and the roadmap of our memories are complicated invocations of various sensations we have gathered throughout our lives, please do not be naïve enough to believe that with one sense OUR SIGHT, we can hope to encapsulate or quantify what our FIVE SENSES have experiences.

With such a disclaimer, I most certainly welcome you to indulge into that reality with me, surrealistic realism.

I am not sure if Chuck is 21st poet or an idealist but his assessment of America is right on the mark. If you don’t believe me then read his writings and watch Fight Club and stay tuned for all of his upcoming films, or rather books that will be turned into films. My pride and joy is my artwork. Above all else it is my hope and strong desire to become one of the leading Indian artists of the world before my time is up. Ok I said it, now I cannot take it back now.

What you will get here is pure unadulterated analysis of world cinema, and the reasons why I increasingly believe that world cinema is overall better than American cinema. But this is not to say that all world cinema falls into this category. However there are those rare few works of visual art that deserve to be lauded and praised as genius for there are films and filmmakers working in our turbulent times that still do subscribe to the creating masterpieces on celluloid. You may also catch films that I speak in detail here that I in fact incorporate into my training curriculum as an art instructor currently. I welcome the opportunity to interact with all of you aficionados of film to engage in healthy discussions with me even if you are one of the unfortunate few who disagree. J
